Telstra Business Technology Centre (TBTC) Perth South’s charity golf day has raised over $10,000 for The Good Chat Foundation, a charity aiming to improve mental health and youth therapy outcomes through community sport initiatives.
The Good Chat Foundation reports that 37% of parents or carers say they aren’t able to afford help for a child with a mental health condition – let alone also keep up with sporting fees. The Good Chat wants to support young adults with sporting programs that help them stay connected in the community, and improve their mental health.
Some households are faced with the choice between supporting their children with therapy, or continuing a sporting program. Sport can really help improve therapy outcomes, so it’s our mission to provide community sporting initiatives for children and young adults so they don’t need to miss out.Kelly Bergsma, Chief Executive Officer, The Good Chat Foundation
The golf day, hosted at Collier Park Golf Club on the 28th of May 2021, was attended by 50 golfers – including customers, vendor partners, family and friends of the TBTC Perth South team.
As well as the $6,000 that TBTC Perth South raised for The Good Chat, more than $4,000 was also raised in the charity auction on the day, with sporting memorabilia including a football, jumper and hat signed by the West Coast Eagles in high demand.
Mental health is an issue we care about at TBTC Perth South, and we wanted to get involved and support a local charity. It was great to see so many of our technology partners also get on board as sponsors for the golf day. It was an enjoyable day of golf and networking – and, we were able to raise funds for a fantastic cause.Stephen O’Keefe, Managing Director, TBTC Perth South
